Trumpeter Marquis Hill, who rose from Chicago's storied music scene and won the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition, brings his group Blacktet to Komünite on the evening of October 17 at 18:30. Praised by outlets like The New Yorker and DownBeat for breaking the genre's conventions, Hill blends classic jazz with hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul and the house sounds of his native Chicago.
