The jazz club series that the Istanbul Jazz Festival and Fiba Salon İKSV run between October and December continues on Thursday evening, October 22, with the Ferit Odman Quintet. Doors open at 8:30 PM and the concert starts at 9:30 PM. Drummer Ferit Odman hosts the series; each night he shares the stage with his own band, different guests and young musicians, so the lineup and musical direction change every evening. Tonight he is on stage with his quintet. One of the leading drummers on the Turkish jazz scene, Odman's path led from Istanbul to New York and on to Europe; he is behind the albums Nommo, Autumn in New York and Dameronia With Strings. Autumn in New York and Nommo each earned four stars from DownBeat. The repertoire is rooted in hard-bop: it starts with pieces from Odman's albums, then follows the solos and improvisation. Ticket prices: full 1,500 TL, Fiba student 750 TL, Eczacıbaşı Young Ticket 50 TL; Salon Card holders get 15% off. The event is for ages 18 and over.
