Yıldız Tilbe is one of Turkish pop and arabesque music's most powerful lyricists, composers and performers, known for her distinctive vocal delivery, strong voice and emotionally charged compositions, and ranked among Turkey's most beloved artists for her unique dance moves while performing and her outspoken, down-to-earth personality. Born in İzmir's Gültepe neighborhood in 1966, the youngest of six children to a Zaza mother from Tunceli and a Kurdish father from Ağrı, she left school after the second year of middle school and married young, and after separating from her husband following the birth of her daughter Sezen Burçin, began singing at wedding halls and nightclubs to support her family; a chance meeting with Sezen Aksu at a bar where she performed in İzmir led her to move to Istanbul and become Aksu's backing vocalist. She had a massive breakthrough with her 1994 debut album "Delikanlım," still considered a classic of Turkish music, and shaped the industry not only through her own songs but also by writing hits for artists like Tarkan, Funda Arar and Deniz Seki, delivering dozens of unforgettable songs across pop, arabesque, fantezi and Turkish folk styles, including "Yürü Anca Gidersin" and "Çat Kapı."
