Turgut Alp Bekoğlu is one of Turkey's most influential jazz drummers and rhythm masters. Born in Gölcük in 1966, he began his professional career in 1983, studied for two years in the US following a research program at the Rotterdam Conservatory, and was mentored by legendary producer Arif Mardin while in New York. He represented Turkey at prestigious venues like Lincoln Center with Telvin, an ethnic jazz project he founded with Erkan Oğur and İlkin Deniz in 1995, and is also part of İlhan Erşahin's İstanbul Sessions lineup. He has played drums on recordings for Sezen Aksu, Ajda Pekkan and Sertab Erener (notably her "Lâl" album), and released his own album "Love Jazz" in 2019.
