Thylacine, the stage name of French producer and multi-instrumentalist William Rezé, blends melodic techno, ambient textures and trip-hop into a distinctly cinematic sound. Named after the extinct Tasmanian tiger, he builds his music around travel itself: his debut album Transsiberian was recorded aboard the Trans-Siberian Railway, while 9 Pieces took shape on a boat off the Norwegian coast and inside the Palace of Versailles. Rather than performing a conventional DJ set, he acts as a one-man orchestra on stage, improvising live on saxophone, guitar and clarinet. Drawing inspiration from classical composers like Philip Glass, Erik Satie and Debussy, he pairs that influence with striking visual projections to create a fully immersive live experience. Thylacine has sold out storied Parisian venues such as the Olympia and Salle Pleyel, and regularly performs at major electronic festivals including Cercle.
