Şirin Vatan
Şirin Vatan is a singer and cellist born in Istanbul in 1978. She studied cello at the Istanbul University State Conservatory, and also studied restoration at Yıldız Technical University and music teaching at Marmara University. She has worked across classical, jazz, pop and ethnic music. In 2007 she released the neo-tango album Yeni Aşk with Piatango, a group she co-founded. She turned toward vocal work after writing Suskun, a lament for her parents. In her current project, Songs from World Languages, she sings in English, Spanish, Hebrew, Polish, Macedonian, Laz, Arabic and more.
