Pentagram
Pentagram is a Turkish metal band formed in Istanbul in 1986 by guitarist Hakan Utangaç and drummer Cenk Ünnü, widely regarded as a pioneer of heavy metal in Turkey. Their first songs came out in 1990 on a self-titled album. Starting out in thrash metal, the band moved toward classic heavy metal with the 1997 album Anatolia, weaving Anatolian melodies and Middle Eastern motifs into their sound. Blending heavy, progressive and folk metal, the band releases its international albums under the name Mezarkabul to avoid confusion with the American doom metal band of the same name.
