Mavi Gri is a popular Turkish alternative rock band formed in Istanbul's Kadıköy district in 2016 by two university students, Akif Alkan and Yusuf Kurtucu, successfully blending indie rock, pop rock and alternative elements. Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Akif Alkan writes and composes most of the songs, while Yusuf Kurtucu plays lead guitar; keyboardist Engincan Onar joined the band in 2020. They broke through in late 2016 with the single "Ben Sende Yandım" and released their debut album "İlkyaz Yağmuru" in 2018. Continuing to write music from home during the pandemic, they scored massive hits streamed millions of times like "Altüst Olmuşum" and "O Ben Olamam," and today Mavi Gri is one of Turkey's most active touring rock bands.
