Machine Girl is an American electronic and experimental music project founded in New York in 2012 by Matt Stephenson, who started it as a solo act before it grew into a full band. Blending breakcore, punk, digital hardcore and rave influences, their relentlessly high-energy sound is what Stephenson calls "fucked-up electronic punk." Named after the ultra-violent 2008 Japanese film The Machine Girl, the band reached its current lineup with drummer Sean Kelly joining in 2015 and guitarist Lucy Caputi in 2024. Their cult-classic debut WLFGRL and their soundtrack for the video game Neon White brought them wider recognition, and they're known for chaotic, boundary-pushing live shows.
