Kibariye (born Bahriye Tokmak) is a Turkish arabesque-pop artist known for her powerful voice and distinctive delivery. Born in 1960 in Akhisar, Manisa, as the eldest child of a Roma family, she worked picking cotton and tobacco as a child due to financial hardship. She began performing at venues in İzmir from 1974, was discovered by composer Muzaffer Özpınar and invited to Istanbul, and became a household name overnight after appearing on TRT television on New Year's Eve 1981. Having released over 20 albums, she became one of the iconic female voices of Turkish music through unforgettable songs like "Kimbilir," "Sil Baştan" and "Ah İstanbul."
