Islandman is a project by Istanbul-based musician and producer Tolga Böyük blending electronic music with traditional and ethnic elements, which grew into a powerful electro-acoustic live trio. Born in Böyük's mind as a "fictional character composing stories of a nonexistent island," the project expanded on stage with Erdem Başer's psychedelic guitar and saz and Eralp Güven's percussion, forging a signature sound that fuses Anatolian psychedelia, downtempo, ambient textures and African-rooted rhythms with modern electronic dance production. Discovered by the Danish label Music for Dreams, the group won Best Band at the Montreux Jazz Festival, performed in the Boiler Room series and appeared on Elton John's radio show. With releases including "Rest in Space" (2017), the internationally breakout "Kaybola" (2020) and their latest album "Island5" (2025), they continue touring festivals worldwide as a cross-cultural musical bridge.
