Ferit Odman
Ferit Odman is one of Turkey's most prestigious jazz drummers and composers, born in Bursa in 1982 and recognized as one of the most active and pioneering figures on the jazz scene both at home and abroad. He started drumming at 12 and laid the foundations of his jazz education in Sweden in 1999 through the AFS exchange program, graduated on a full scholarship from Istanbul Bilgi University's Jazz Performance department, studied at New York's School for Improvisational Music in 2004, and completed a Master of Music in jazz performance at William Paterson University in the US on a Fulbright scholarship. After returning to Turkey, he became the drummer for the TRT Jazz Orchestra, has been a longtime fixture of the Kerem Görsev Trio, and has performed on jazz projects with names like Fazıl Say and Kenan Doğulu. Leading his own group, the Ferit Odman Quintet, he performs at major jazz festivals across Turkey and Europe, and has led acclaimed albums including "Autumn in New York" and "Nommo."
