Ferda Anıl Yarkın is a Turkish pop singer, songwriter and musician known especially for the emotional hits she released in the 1990s. Born in Istanbul in 1970 to a musical family, she graduated from Istanbul Technical University's Turkish Music State Conservatory in violin; her father was the celebrated composer Kamuran Yarkın, and her brothers Ferruh and Fahrettin Yarkın are members of the well-known Turkish rhythm group Yarkın Ritm Grubu. During pop music's boom years in the 1990s, she released widely loved songs like "Üzülme" and "Sonuna Kadar," and built a distinctive image by consistently wearing black in her stage performances and music videos, going on to release albums including "Aşkın Yetmez," "Sonuna Kadar" and, after a long hiatus, "Ayrılmayalım." Beyond music, she coached on the show "Şarkı Söylemek Lazım" in 2007 and has occasionally directed choirs, and continues today writing music for other artists and performing at concerts.
