Derya Bedavacı is a Turkish singer, songwriter and composer known for a style blending arabesque, fantezi and pop, along with her hazy voice and powerful delivery. Born in Sivas in 1981, the third of seven children, and raised from a young age in Izmir after her family moved there, she completed both her bachelor's and master's degrees at Ege University's State Turkish Music Conservatory and sang in the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Classical Music Choir. She began her career singing as a soloist at venues in Izmir for years, first making her name as a composer with songs performed by others, including Hakan Altun's "Saki," Kubat's "Veda" and Ferhat Göçer's "Sanane"; her duet with Hakan Altun, "Kavuşmalıyız," became the turning point of her career, and she reached a wide audience with her 2018 album "Sayende." She has written emotionally resonant songs streamed millions of times, including "Tövbe," "Ama Geçecek" and "Kalbimi Kırıyorlar Anne," and is married to drummer Murat Bedavacı, with whom she has a daughter named Ada Su and has shared the stage for years.
