Brooklyn Funk Essentials play Babylon on Saturday evening, 12 December. For over 30 years the band has fused funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz and disco into a sound of their own. They emerged from New York's club scene in the 1990s and made their name with their 1994 debut Cool & Steady & Easy. They also have a special tie to Turkey: on 1996's In the BuzzBag, recorded in Istanbul, they worked with Laço Tayfa, blending funk with Turkish music and earning a Grammy nomination. Still creating with 2026's Black Butterfly, the band promises a night full of funk, soul and groove. The show starts at 21:30.
